Memento Mori:

Objectives:

This assignment is intended to help you to learn to see more fully.  It asks you to observe volumes and voids, contours, proportions, relationships thoroughly and in detail an along the way, to model an exact replica in plastilina clay.  You will also build on this foundations to create personal and unique visual expression.

Requirements:

Closely observe the skull.  Use masking tape and newspaper to build a form that will be used as the core, add and subtract plastilina to model an accurate, 1:1 scale, clay skull of your own.  We will then make a plaster gauze shell, remove the clay, and seal the shell, to create a hollow plaster skull.  Seal the skull with your primer, and, guided by one or two primary design elements and principles, collage the entire surface.

Required materials:

Plaster Gauze
Masking tape
Newspaper
Collage materials (Scissors, mod podge or acrylic matt medium)

This project due date will be discussed in class.
